THE LIGHT MUST BE TESTED.

When someone describes a near-death experience and says that a “being of light” appeared and began asking questions such as:

“What do you have to show me?”
“What have you done with your life?”

we should not immediately assume that this being is God.

Does the true God need to ask us what we have done, as though He does not already know us?

God knows the heart. He knows every thought, every action, every hidden sin, and every secret intention.

And when some people describe a mysterious “being of light” that questions them, laughs at them, or presents itself in a way that does not correspond to the revelation of Christ and the teachings of the Church, the Orthodox Christian should be extremely cautious.

Not every supernatural experience comes from God.

The Holy Scriptures warn us that Satan can disguise himself as an angel of light.

Therefore, the question is not simply:

“Did you see a light?”

The question is:

WHO was behind that light?

The Christian does not test spiritual experiences by emotion, brightness, love, or supernatural appearance.

We test everything against Christ, the Holy Scriptures, and the Holy Tradition of the Orthodox Church.

Not every light is the Light of Christ.

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God.”

Bir gün, Yaşlı Peder Porphyrios (Aziz Porphyrios) ve üç ruhani evladı yorgundular ve manastıra ulaşabilmek için bir taksi durdurmaya karar verdiler.

Uzaktan bir taksi göründü.

Yaşlının üç arkadaşı taksiyi durdurmaya karar verdiler.

«Endişelenmeyin,» dedi yaşlı adam, «taksi kendiliğinden duracak.

Ancak taksiye bindiğinizde şoförle konuşmayacaksınız. Onunla yalnızca ben konuşacağım.»

Ve tam olarak böyle oldu.

Araba, elleriyle işaret etmemiş olmalarına rağmen durdu. Hepsi arabaya bindi ve yaşlı adam şoföre nereye gideceklerini söyledi.

Taksi şoförü yola çıktığında, neredeyse hemen din adamlarını her türlü ağır günahla suçlamaya başladı.

Her yeni suçlama yaptığında arka koltukta oturan yaşlının ruhani evlatlarına dönerek:

«Ee çocuklar? Buna ne diyorsunuz?» diye soruyordu.

Onlar ise itaat gereği sessizce oturuyorlardı…

Taksi şoförü onların kendisine cevap vermeyeceklerini anlayınca Peder Porphyrios’a döndü ve sordu:

«Sen ne diyorsun, baba? Yazılanların hepsi doğru, öyle değil mi?»

Yaşlı adam cevap verdi:

«Oğlum, sana kısa bir hikâye anlatacağım. Bunu yalnızca bir kez anlatacağım; iki kez dinlemene gerek kalmayacak.

Belirli bir yerde (yerin adını söyledi) yaşayan bir adam vardı. Bu adamın, büyük bir araziye sahip yaşlı bir komşusu vardı.

Bir gece komşusunu öldürdü ve onu toprağa gömdü.

Daha sonra sahte belgeler kullanarak komşusunun arazisine el koydu ve onu sattı.

Peki, bu parayla ne satın aldığını biliyor musun?

Bir taksi satın aldı…»

Taksi şoförü bu hikâyeyi duyar duymaz ürperdi. Sonra yolun kenarına çekti ve bağırdı:

«Sus, baba! Bunu sadece sen ve ben biliyoruz!»

«Tanrı bunu da biliyor,» diye cevap verdi Peder Porphyrios.

«Bana bunu sana bildirmemi söyledi.

Bak, tövbe et ve hayatını değiştir».
